How BEC(Oman) manages terabytes of data with ViciDocs Enterprise

Founded in 1977, Bahwan Engineering Company (BEC), the flagship of the Engineering Group is one of the largest engineering construction company executing integrated multi-disciplinary construction projects and facilities management projects in Oman and UAE.

BEC employs over 9000 people including 400 Engineers and has established itself as the leader in integrated construction projects and executed prestigious LNG Train 1, 2 & 3 projects, Oil & Gas projects, Power Stations, High Voltage Transmission and Distribution projects, Hotels, Hospitals, Commercial and Residential complexes.

BEC has been using ViciDocs Enterprise for more than 5 years now. It uses the product to store and retrieve the high volume of paper documents being generated in the company – legal agreements, invoices, drawings etc.. These are scanned using the Capture Client module and automatically indexed on full text using the server side OCR service of ViciDocs Enterprise.

One of the highlights of the implementation has been the use of distributed storage architecture, a distinctive feature of ViciDocs. As the volume of scanned paper documents has grown over the years, BEC has kept adding new storage volumes from the Admin interface of ViciDocs thus easily scaling the solution to more than a terabyte.
