VICIDOCS FOR DISTRIBUTED CAPTURE

The requirements of capturing documents from multiple locations vary widely depending on the business context. The application at point of capture needs to be designed considering various factors and could be any of the following:

• A real time application which connects to the central server to upload documents
  
  

• A periodic upload application which has some basic document management features so that documents are managed at the point of capture for some time before being uploaded
  
  

• A thin client application which monitors a folder and uploads any document added to the folder to the central server

An overview of the evaluation of the above modes is as follows:

ViciDocs has implemented various capture applications encompassing all the above designs

• Real time scanning: The Capture Client application of ViciDocs enterprise enables document capture with direct upload to the document management server. The application includes:
  
  

  • Rich features for scanning including barcode separators, multi-page document creation etc.
    
    

  • Relating documents together
    
    

  • Setting up of access control permissions
    
    

• Periodic upload: The EzStore tool is developed for documents to be scanned/imported and indexed. At scheduled times these documents are uploaded to the ViciDocs Enterprise server. The application includes search and retrieval on index data.
  
  

• Thin client upload: A light application Folder Monitor has been developed which monitors a Windows folder and any documents scanned/stored in the folder are uploaded to ViciDocs Enterprise server. The user login details and periodicity of upload can be input into the application
